Burlington Coat Factory is sacred ground

What can you say:

The First Amendment protects freedom of religion. Sen. Reid respects that but thinks that the mosque should be built some place else. If the Republicans are being sincere, they would help us pass this long overdue bill to help the first responders whose health and livelihoods have been devastated because of their bravery on 911, rather than continuing to block this much-needed legislation.

Weak sauce, and super lame attempt to change the subject.  How often do you see a politician say they “understand” or “respect” something, then in the same sentence demonstrate they do not?  Depressingly often.

This “ground zero mosque” thing has really revealed the depths of misguided anti-muslim hatred in this country.  You always knew it was simmering after 9/11 but apparently a majority in this country is once again perfectly fine wiping its ass with the constitution when it comes to discriminating against brown people.  Conservatives are pimping the hell out of this “issue”, which is all about the first amendment and the right to do what you want with your property, two major load-bearing pillars in the great right-wing church of victimology.  The hypocrisy is enough to make blood shoot out of your ears.

It’s fucking unbearable going through this cycle every 2 years where the right wing focuses its energy on some minority group and prods everyone into irrationally hating them.  Equally unbearable when, as in this case, Democrats see a poll showing a majority of the country has its head up its ass and then just jump on the bandwagon instead of making the case for reason and sanity.  You can almost visualize the upcoming event, organized by Glenn Beck, where we all go around and smash the windows of muslim-owned shops.

If this is how America works, I will henceforth consider all Christians terrorists, because of such terrorists as Timothy McVeigh and Scott Roeder.
